Tis the Season to be Jolly…Although, I did spot Christmas trees and Halloween costumes at Costco one day in September. And as our construction project slowly progresses, the landscaping is now gone; the roof tiles are now gone…

…and the day set aside to reflect on all we should be thankful for has now gone as well.

The holiday season has officially begun! But as quick as the turkey was devoured, so will the Christmas tree and the holiday cheer as we round the corner of another year, making resolutions we know we will never keep.

I know I’m reflecting on the year a tad early, but so much has transpired in my life, in my friends and families’ lives, in our country, and in the world. As with 2019, 2020, 2021, and this year so much uncertainty still hangs in the balance. It becomes challenging to weed through all that has transpired, much of what most people find difficult to even understand. Sometimes it feels like the world is upside down, like the World Cup where the mostly likely teams to win…lose…and vice versa.

Everyone knows I’m a political junkie and as Pericles said, and I believe, “Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you.”

So, whether it is:

  • a pandemic genetically engineered in China,

  • critical race theories,

  • defunding the police outcries,

  • progressive prosecutions,

  • open borders flooding the country with millions of unidentified immigrants and criminals,

  • fentanyl drug overdoses,

  • election fraud,

  • parental protests,

  • gender identity indoctrination of children,

  • low unemployment coupled with lack of participation in the workforce,

  • the rise in gas prices coupled with the depletion of our petroleum reserve,

  • the increase in food costs and depletion in supply chains,

  • the Green New Deal,

  • the Mid-East turmoil bubbling up again,

  • declining military enrollment,

  • the Ukrainian war,

  • China’s threats towards Taiwan,

  • Iranian threats to the U.S.

  • and the expansion of nuclear weapons in China, Iran, and Korea…

…the list continues. But one thing connects them all…POLITICS!

Sorry to sound like a Bah Humbug, but I don’t see a shift in the metrics soon, but oftentimes reality is a welcomed wake-up call for change! Suddenly, The Byrds song from the 60’s came to mind…remember Turn Turn Turn.

To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time to every purpose, under heaven

And with every New Year comes new hopes and new dreams! On a positive note, more young people, more parents, and more small businesses are becoming more engaged in the politics that affect their lives. We don’t have to agree, we just need to be aware, especially when you exercise the privilege of voting.

Now, for some Shameless Promo!
It’s time to think about stocking stuffers…
I have a few ideas!
